La casa en el campo is a documentary photography and video project created for Or.Me. (Orti Metropolitani). Or.Me. is a network of vegetable gardens, farmsteads, third-sector associations, cooperatives, and citizens who support horticulture and urban agriculture in Turin and its metropolitan area. The documentary navigates through reflections on the project, the city, and urban green spaces, all seen through the eyes of Carlos, who has found a new home in this space.

Carlos shares his personal experience, drawing a parallel between himself and an old pear tree recently planted in the garden. Despite its effort, the tree is not bearing fruit and shows little improvement. It was transplanted to a place it doesn’t know, too old to adapt to its new environment. This mirrors Carlos’ own struggles as he feels too distant from his culture and life in Italy. Even though he has found a new family within the collective of people spending time in the garden, he still struggles to adapt to a city like Turin. The tree, like Carlos, represents the difficulty of finding roots in a place that feels foreign and out of reach.
