Der präparierte Minotaurus – A collaboration with the Anton Bruckner Private University for Music, Drama and Dance, Linz. (Work in Progress)
Der präparierte Minotaurus is a project inspired by the novel The Cabinet of Curiosities by Olga Tokarczuk. The protagonist is fascinated by the rare, unique, and monstrous aspects of creation, seeking out oddities often found in obscure, hospital-associated collections. These anomalies, preserved in formaldehyde, are seen as immortal, as only the unusual survives.
Building on this, the project explores the idea of divine anatomy, focusing on the mythical figure of the Minotaur—half-human, half-bull. The Minotaur, a terrifying yet divine creature, serves as the centerpiece of the project, aiming to investigate why the grotesque, rather than the beautiful, captivates us. It asks whether encountering the monstrous is a confrontation with our true selves or our divine nature.
